The principles of science may be undermined by the people controlling the flow of money regardless of whether that money is owned by them (theirs) or not.

Systems whereby control of money is concentrated into the hands of a few are notorious for the corruption of truth and reality that may be deliberately imposed on the masses who truly own the money.

Power and money, wealth and power, the synonymity of the two derived from the division of labour that necessitates the token coinage required to allow exchange of service over time, allows the creation and amassing of wealth that in turn concentrates power of some individuals over others.
